Welcome to our Eco Church journey
At St. Mary's we believe that caring for God’s creation is a core part of our Christian faith and worship. We are excited to share that we have officially begun our journey with Eco Church, an initiative by A Rocha UK that helps churches look at their environmental impact.
We are right at the starting line and actively working toward earning our very first Bronze Award.
Our 5 focus areas:
To earn our first medal, we are assessing and improving how we care for the environment across five key areas of church life:
* Worship and Teaching: Integrating care for creation into our sermons, prayers, and hymns.
* Buildings: Improving our energy efficiency, reducing waste, and using eco-friendly cleaning products.
* Land: Managing our church grounds to create a safe haven for local wildlife and plants.
* Community and Global Engagement: Partnering with local green initiatives and speaking up for climate justice.
* Lifestyle: Encouraging each other to make sustainable choices in our everyday lives.
Current projects and next steps:
We are currently auditing our daily habits to see where we can make quick, impactful changes. Our immediate goals include:

Get involved!
We cannot do this alone-every small action counts. Whether you have a passion for gardening, a knack for energy saving, or simply want to help us recycle better, there is a place for you.
* Join the Team: We are looking for volunteers to join our newly formed Eco Group.
* Take the Survey: You can look HERE to see the standards we are aiming for.
* Spread the Word: Share your own eco-tips with us after the Sunday service!
Contact Us: If you want to get involved or have an idea to help us go green, please speak to Kay Cooper or Lyndsey Millington.
